The College of Media and Electronic Publishing at Stardom University organized its inaugural conference titled “Digital Media and Artificial Intelligence: Reality and Future Manifestations” on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The event brought together a distinguished group of academics, journalists, and content creators

The conference spanned four consecutive sessions, exploring the current use of artificial intelligence in media, the opportunities and challenges it presents, and its future prospects in the field. The event featured eleven participants from Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine, including researchers, faculty members, deans, and vice deans of Arab media colleges, as well as journalists and content creators

Session Highlights
First Session: Media Research and Artificial Intelligence

: Three research papers were presented

Dr. Tahseen Mansour, Professor of Digital Media at the University of Jordan and former Dean of the Faculty of Media at Yarmouk University, discussed marketing through artificial intelligence

Dr. Fathy Ismail, Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Pharos University, presented research on journalists’ attitudes toward using artificial intelligence in developing journalistic content

Dr. Khaled Hailat, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media at Yarmouk University, examined the use of artificial intelligence by journalism students at Yarmouk University in producing journalistic content

Second Session: Media and Artificial Intelligence Specialization in Universities

This session focused on the present and future of digital media and artificial intelligence as a university specialization and the challenges it faces. Contributors included

Dr. Zeinat Abu Shaweesh, who emphasized the need to integrate artificial intelligence into media studies in universities

Dr. Maram Hussein and Dr. Salma El-Gazzar from the British University in Cairo

Third Session: The Future of Arab Journalism in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

This session featured a professional dialogue with Dr. Hossam Al-Domrani, a journalist at Al-Dostor newspaper in Egypt, exploring the realities and future of Arab journalism amid the dominance of artificial intelligence technology

Fourth Session: Social Media and Artificial Intelligence

Prominent digital media content creators Mr. Louay Hisham and Mr. Ali Al-Gilani shared their insights on the future of content creation in light of rapid technological advancements

Closing Activities

At the conclusion of the sessions, a raffle was held for attending students, offering a 50% discount on tuition fees as a scholarship from the university. The winners were announced as part of the university’s efforts to support students interested in studying media and artificial intelligence

The conference saw significant engagement from attendees and concluded with the final statement and recommendations delivered by Dr. Doaa Adel, Dean of the College of Media and Electronic Publishing
