Bachelor’s in New Media

Program Overview:

The bachelor's degree is the primary undergraduate stage that follows high school and precedes postgraduate studies. It is called a license in some countries and a bachelor's degree in others. It typically lasts four academic years, but at Stardom University, it consists of eight semesters. The university offers intensive study at all stages; it can be obtained in two and a half years. If traditional media involves disseminating news, comments, and entertainment through newspapers and magazines (print media), radio (audio media), and television (visual media), new media is about disseminating news, comments, and entertainment through the internet and social media (digital media). Despite the prevalence and dominance of new media, traditional media still exists strongly and has primarily adapted to its requirements, adopting most of its tools.

To become a model for providing scientific qualification and practical training for new media professionals and those wishing to enter the field in all its branches and innovations.

Mission:

  • The New Media Department at the College of Media, Stardom University, strives to provide high-quality education in new media at theoretical and practical levels. It prepares students to enter the job market immediately after graduation, equipped with high culture, modern scientific knowledge, and practical experience in all fields of media work.
  • The department qualifies students for existing jobs in the new media field and equips them with a university degree, enabling them to pass well-known international certification exams.

Program Objectives:

  • To provide outstanding theoretical knowledge and practical application to bachelor's students in new media.
  • To keep up with the latest developments in the new media world in technical and professional fields and quickly integrate them into the college's curricula and practical training areas.
  • To turn the bachelor's study period into a space for thinking and innovation, involving all parties of the educational process: professors, students, and administration.

Learning Outcomes:

A graduate with a Bachelor's in New Media from the College of Media at Stardom University will be equipped with:

  • Comprehensive theoretical knowledge of all media fields and practical training in new media. They will have a scientific certificate and links to samples of their prepared media products, allowing media institutions to assess their ability to perform the required job accurately.
  • An understanding of print journalism (newspapers, magazines, websites), audio journalism (radio), and visual journalism (television), along with a deep knowledge of new media with all its technologies (infographics, podcasts).
  • Deep knowledge of the ethics, professionalism, and laws of media in general and new media in particular, as well as the challenges and risks of new technologies.
  • We will discuss practical examples of citizen journalism, blogging, and influencing, along with all related issues (legal, professional, ethical, technical).
  • A bachelor's in new media will be an ideal opportunity to learn and practice communication skills scientifically and practically in the modern era.

Career and Professional Potential:

  • Ability to work as a journalist in written, audio, and visual media and related professions (photography, sound engineering, editing, directing, preparation, publishing).
  • Working as a spokesperson, media representative, or member of a media office in non-media institutions (political, industrial, commercial, civic).
  • Working independently or as a content creator on new media platforms or for an institution.
  • Practicing new media individually, voluntarily, civically, or officially.
  • Managing media institutions, public relations firms, opinion polling, and public opinion measurement institutions.

Graduation Requirements:

  • Completing the necessary coursework to finish the program for each specialization.
  • Complete and achieve a graduation project.
  • Pass the final examinations.
  • Fulfill all required obligations at the university.
